The Village

Located at the mouth of the Avon Estuary, Bantham is a quiet, unspolit and picturesque village within the South Hams, an Area of Outstanding National Beauty. The area is popular with walkers, being on the route of the South West Coast Path which offers spectacular views of the sea, beaches and countryside along its route.

In the village, is the 14th century Sloop Inn which has a good reputation for food, serving lunch and dinner daily. Bantham Village Stores sells fresh bread, newspapers and a range of essential food items, household goods, and beach things. It also has a café with a lovely terrace overlooking the river estuary. Opening hours vary throughout the year, but are generally 9am-5pm daily from Easter until the end of the summer season.
