Eating Out

Apart from The Sloop Inn, there are many great places to eat out around the area. Here are a few of our favourites…

Seafood: The Seahorse  in Dartmouth, The Oyster Shack at Bigbury, The Anchorstone at Dittisham and The Beach House at South Milton Sands – also a great place to stop for a bacon sandwich when walking the coastal path.

Gastropubs: The Treby Arms at Sparkwell, run by Anton Piotrowski, winner of Professional Masterchef in 2012, was recently awarded a Michelin star; The Millbrook Inn at South Pool

Family friendly: The Crabshell Inn on the banks of the estuary in Kingsbridge is open daily all year, serving food from midday onwards; The Winking Prawn at North Sands, Salcombe is open every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner, during the season. It’s fun and relaxed – great for families with children. If you require childcare during your stay, Sue MacBroom is a registered childminder who offers babysitting services. Contact her on 07970 237285.

Wild Artichokes in Kingsbridge is run by chef Jane Baxter, formerly of the Riverford Kitchen. They run cookery demos and regular lunch and dinner feasts at their premises in Kingsbridge.

Jean-Philippe Bidart, otherwise know as Le Guest Chef  and formerly Head Chef at The Millbrook Inn, can cater for those who want to eat in but prefer not too cook.
